YankyBot vs Grok Bot

A similar idea: persistent agents that help finish the work. A different starting point: your own Mac and AI subscriptions, or a managed cloud workspace.

Written by the YankyBot team. We compare our development release with Grok Bot’s documented product. Features and plans can change; official sources are linked where discussed.

Two ways to give agents a workspace

YankyBot is a free Mac app in development. It uses your signed-in Claude Code or Codex installation and gives agents a shared workspace, file-based memory, a browser and tools for your Mac. The public installer is being prepared; early access is by enquiry.

Grok Bot is an available cloud-based service. Its bots work on a persistent computer, keep context and can continue while your laptop is closed. Its documentation lists desktop and mobile apps. Source: Grok Bot overview ↗

Where each approach makes sense

Consider YankyBot if you already use Claude or ChatGPT, want editable local context and prefer working alongside agents on your Mac. You should be comfortable trying software that is still being prepared for a public release.

Consider Grok Bot when the managed cloud workspace and continuity across devices are central to your work. Availability today can matter more than a feature on another product’s roadmap. Test a real task before deciding; a longer feature list does not prove a better result for your workflow.

Check the plan you already have

Do not assume that adding Grok Bot always means another subscription. It is included in eligible plans, and entitlement depends on your account. YankyBot’s app fee is zero, but the AI access it uses remains subject to the provider’s billing and limits.

See the separate pricing comparison for plan details, or review Grok Bot subscription eligibility directly.

Try the same task, with the same boundary

Use the same input files and ask both products for the same small result. Note the time you spend supervising, the evidence included in the output and whether the task requires your machine to remain available. Those observations are more useful than assuming that either product is universally more capable.

For access and permissions, read our computer-control comparison. Neither a local nor a cloud workflow removes the need to review consequential actions.

Put a little team to work.
